Have you taken the plunge into chicken keeping but aren’t sure of the best practices for maintaining your coop on a regular basis? Do you get overwhelmed with cleaning your chicken coop and run? Not sure what shelter and safety to provide your chickens? Confused by the contradictory options and opinions on the Intraweb? Come spend the afternoon with Laura Menard in Four Acorns Farm’s new, rare breed Chicken Barn and learn about…

  • How to clean the interior of your coop

  • Tools and tricks for coop maintenance

  • Bedding choices

  • Nesting box needs

  • Cleaning and maintaining the run

  • Assessing your coop for rodent and predator susceptibility

  • Feed and materials storage

You will leave with a better understanding of quarterly chicken coop maintenance and your chickens’ health and safety needs, as well as a helpful handout.

Registration is online through Cabrillo College Extension. No walk ins.

Please be sure to wear comfortable, closed-toed shoes and dress for the weather. You will be standing and moving around the farm for most of the class time, and walking on unpaved paths.
