Chicken First Aid and Health

Do you love your chickens but feel unprepared for a chicken health emergency? Have you struggled to care for an ill bird and want to be more proactive in the future? Want to develop a quarterly chicken health maintenance program for your flock? Wishing you had first aid resources at home so that every concern doesn’t involve an expensive trip to the avian vet? Come spend the afternoon with Laura Menard in Four Acorns Farm’s new, rare breed Chicken Barn and learn about…

  • Most common chicken diseases and illnesses

  • How to protect against mites and anemia

  • How to avoid hypocalcemia in your flock

  • How to establish and maintain a quarterly flock health routine

  • How to maintain a well stocked first aid kit

  • How to proactively gather resources to care for your flock

You will receive a well stocked chicken first aid kit and leave with a better understanding of how to care for your birds in an emergency as well as a helpful handout.

Registration is through Cabrillo College Extension. No walk ins.

Please be sure to wear comfortable, closed-toed shoes and dress for the weather. You will be standing and moving around the farm for most of the class time, and walking on unpaved paths.
