Beginning Basketry - Shaker Cheese Basket

Basketry is the art and craft of making interwoven objects, usually containers, from flexible fibers. It is both one of mankind's oldest art forms and tools. Come join our creative community as we venture into basketry in Four Acorns Farm's 1880's barn class and event space next to the new, rare breed Chicken Barn.   In this four hour class, artist/instructor Laura Menard will guide you through the construction of a beginner-level Shaker Cheese Basket. This is an open woven, flat reed round basket. The class will cover which tools to use, how to work with reed, and how to start, shape, and finish your basket. Resources and basket inspiration will also be shared.

Class is $120. Your materials fee of $40 will be paid in class: $25 covers all the reed necessary to finish your project, and the required tool kit will be available to purchase in class for $15. For those students who took the Beginning Basket Weaving class, you will not need to purchase the tool kit as long as you bring all of the tools that were provided during that class!
